I am a PhD candidate in Statistics supervised by Dr. Samuel WK Wong at the University of Waterloo. I completed a Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics from the University of Lethbridge in 2022, and then obtained a Master of Mathematics in Data Science from the University of Waterloo in 2024. My research portfolio includes previous projects across sports, economics, and social network analysis, and I hold an NSERC CGRS-D for my current work in sequential decision-making under uncertainty and credit assignment.

I have worked in high performance sport since 2021 and am currently a performance data scientist for Canadian Sport Institute Ontario, where I provide statistical analysis and design in-house data solutions to analyze athlete performance and health data. As an assistant coach with the University of Waterloo Warriors Women’s volleyball team, I lead scouting and data science. In an adjacent role with the Department of Athletics & Recreation I coordinate over 20 student volunteers in vision, strategy, and infrastructure development for novel sports analytics services for varsity programs.

To enhance the presence of sports analytics research at the post-secondary level, I founded the University of Waterloo Analytics Group for Games and Sports (UWAGGS). Members collaborate on projects, hackathons, and competitions, share resources and participate in tutorials and workshops, and attend and present at seminars and conferences. I am also a founding member of the Ontario Universities Sports Analytics Coalition (OUSAC), a consortium of sports analytics student groups with a joint vision to grow the quantitative analysis of sport in the province.

Interests

  • Technical: open-source package development, data engineering, machine learning, and statistical consulting

  • Research: sports analytics, spatiotemporal data analysis, and Bayesian modelling

  • Pedagogical: curriculum development, reproducibility, and teaching proficiency in DevOps tools and code workflows
